LIMS was rewarded the prize of best policy paper in the MENA region at the Averroes Academy for proposing to abolish the national electricity monopoly in Lebanon and to allow Independent Power Producers (IPP) into the market. The Lebanese government adopted this reform in 2019 and it was voted by the Lebanese parliament under Law 129 of April 30, 2019.

Winner of the Atlas 2017 MENA Liberty Award – 2017
LIMS was awarded the 2017 Regional Liberty Award by the Atlas Network for the “Legalize Electricity in Lebanon” campaign. LIMS’ electricity campaign videos were viewed by almost 1M people, and received extensive media coverage from TVs, Radios and Newspapers.
Finalist of the 2019 Templeton Award
LIMS was nominated as a finalist for the prestigious Templeton Freedom Award, which recognizes our contribution to electricity reform. In May 2019, the Lebanese parliament voted in favor of Law 129, authorizing private independent power producers to enter the market and sell electricity. This victory for LIMS averted the spending of $5.4 billion, which translates to $125 saved by the average taxpayer each month.
LIMS earns the top award at the ATLAS Investor Summit 2022
At Investors Summit for Liberty 2022, ten pre-selected Atlas Network partners took the stage to pitch their most exciting projects for the upcoming year. Generous investors provided grant funding not only for the winner, but for each runner-up as well. Lebanese Institute for Market Studies—or LIMS—won this year’s top prize for their Lebanon NOW initiative to counteract inaccurate reporting by mainstream media in their country.
Winner of the best emerging think tank in the MENA region – 2015
LIMS was rewarded the best think tank in the MENA region by the Arab Center for Scientific Research and Humane Studies in Marrakesh, Morocco. The festival included participation from countries such as Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Mali, Syria, Oman, and Turkey.
