Townhall Meeting to Explain IMF Requested Reforms from Lebanon

On March 12, LIMS took part in a town hall meeting in Tripoli organized by the Mouawad Foundation. LIMS discussed the main reform axes that the IMF requires from Lebanon. Firstly, reforming the public sector to reduce and eliminate the country’s fiscal deficit, and secondly, restructuring the banking sector and settling the problem of losses. Thirdly, ensuring monetary stability and, finally, structural reform, specifically reforming the electricity sector. LIMS also explained the difficulty of achieving each of those reforms and how internal politics in Lebanon may block them.
